Privacy Policy

Overview

the1stbook ("we," "us," or "this site") is a simple book recommendation site. This policy explains what little information is involved when you visit, and how the Amazon affiliate links on this site work.

Information We Collect

We do not require accounts, and we do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or payment details. Standard web server logs (like your browser type and the pages you request) may be recorded temporarily by our hosting provider for security and performance purposes.

What You Type Into the Search Box

To generate recommendations, the description you type and the genres you select are sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, which processes them and returns book suggestions. Please don't enter personal or sensitive information in the search box. We don't save your searches or link them to you. Anthropic handles data under its own privacy policy.

To prevent abuse, your IP address is held temporarily in the server's memory to limit how many searches can be made in a short period. It is not stored long-term.

Cookies

This site does not set its own tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, this policy will be updated to describe what is collected and how to opt out.

Amazon Associates Disclosure

the1stbook is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click a "View on Amazon" link and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Amazon may set its own cookies once you leave this site; those are governed by Amazon's own privacy notice.

Third-Party Links

This site links out to Amazon and may link to other third-party sites. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of sites we don't operate, so we encourage you to review their policies directly.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
